Our Programmes - Agni Raksha
Agni Raksha's primary objective is to work for the holistic rehabilitation of burn victims from poor families, with a focus on women and children.
Agni Raksha facilitates free surgeries for poor burn victims (skin grafting, re-construction and release surgeries). In addition, there is provision for a 15 bed residential centre (Safe Haven) for post surgical care and acute care, a bi-weekly OPD (Out Patient Department), regular dressings and physiotherapy for the burn victims.
Agni Raksha’s strength lies in looking beyond medical treatment of a burn victim and working for his or her holistic rehabilitation and integration. Agni Raksha believes that motivation and encouragement, in addition to providing socio-economic support towards income generating activities, help the burn victims to completely overcome the trauma of any burns incident.
Geographically, Agni Raksha works in all urban poor communities (slums) In Bangalore and well as in a few peri-urban areas and rural areas. Its It networks with several stakeholders in urban, peri-urban and rural areas. These include major hospitals, (both Government and Private) private clinics, youth groups in schools and colleges, elected public representatives, police personnel and community based organizations (CBOs) .
